When
a person views such
creative African
art, several themes seem to come up over
and over again. These themes are representations of things
significant to African culture; They reveal the importance
behind some of its most beautiful art. An African artist
seeks a calm reflective sculpture of contrasting textures
with respect given to the shape of the stone, usually
having smooth surface textures, but not all are totally
smooth and some artists tend to leave part of the raw
stone exposed using void and open-form to emphasize the
objects occupancy of space. The work of these artists'
reflects creativity and attention to texture, composition,
& detail.
